Happy New Year! This past year was a bit challenging for us all but we got through it. After a couple attempts at a sleep study Jordan wasn't able to successfully complete it. This last one was to get the correct settings for his bi pap machine and ever since they have started to talk about this bi pap machine I knew it was going to be a huge struggle. They finally agreed to give us the machine to try here in the comfort of his home and introduce it slowly to him. That was not an easy task! Thankfully we have a great social worker who came to our home today and spent a couple hours here helping me talk to Jordan about the machine why we need it and how it was going to help us. We were able to bribe him with a little toys and his social worker bought him a journal for him to write whatever he wanted in it, he decided it would become his bi pap journal where he writes every time he does a treatment and for how long. We completed day one and did 30 min!!! I have to say that was not easy but I'm so proud of him and he's so proud of himself. I started making tik toks through his treatments and having conversations with him so that the time passed and its been working! Jordans oxygen has not been the greatest and he really needs this machine to help him get through the day without running out of breath and I really hope it helps with our memory because some conversations lately have concerned me. It's everyday things he's starting to forget and I think that the lack of oxygen might be playing a factor in it all. I did have to have the conversation with him about having a trach and that as much as I didn't want to do that it might be the route we ended up in if he didn't cooperate with us and give the bi pap machine a try. Lets just say today consisted of a lot of crying, a lot of it but I feel like we ended on a positive note. We continue on our journey to try and make him comfortable during these huge changes he's encountering somedays are just a tad bit harder than others.
